Fiber Optics Technician/Repair Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Ethio Impact Consulting Plc is looking for a Fiber Optics Technician/Repair Technician on behalf of a Private Company.

A fiber optics technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. This includes the handling of fiber optic cables, connectors, and related equipment/a repair technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of equipment, machinery, or devices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•  Install and terminate fiber optic cables, splicing, and testing fiber optics systems.
   
• Install fiber optic patch panels, enclosures, and other network components.
   
•  Ensure all work is done in compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
   
• Set up and configure network systems related to fiber optics, ensuring maximum performance and efficiency.
   
• Use OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer), light meters, and other fiber optic testing tools to troubleshoot fiber systems.
   
•  Identify faults, such as damaged cables or misalignments, and carry out repairs.
   
•  Perform regular maintenance checks on fiber optic systems to ensure they are functioning optimally.
   
• Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs, including schematics and system changes.
   
• Keep logs of fiber optic network status and performance/experienced 2 and above years in a repair technician role

• Electrical engineer
   
•  Previous experience in fiber optic installation and troubleshooting.
   
•  Experience with fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, light meters, etc.) is highly preferred/experienced 2 and above years in a repair technician role.
