The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center – Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs is looking for a qualified professionals to fill the following post for its Guinea Worm Eradication Program.
Main Responsibilities:
- Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Officer, the Zonal Project Coordinator works closely West Omo zone health Department and oversees the GWD surveillance activities in different woreda health office and health facilities in the zone Â
- The Zonal coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating program activities in his coverage area, including work closely with the health system in mobilizing the public on the basics of GWD and the cash reward awareness, strengthening the GWD surveillance: Â rumor investigation, timely reporting and documentation,
- Work with Program Officer, and regional manager in training of health workers, and sensitizing HEWs and others to streamline GWD into the gov’t program planning, implementation and monitoring mechanism.Â
- Work with the program officer and regional manager on timely reporting and documentation  weekly rumor, monthly program report, and delivering program results.Â
- In addition, the Zonal Coordinator is responsible for supervising and managing TCC’s financial and material resources in his/her assigned woreda.Â
- Performs other activities as instructed by supervisor..
Terms of Employment:Â One year contract with a possibility of extension

Qualification and Experience:
- BSc degree in public health, health promotion, social science, or other development-related fields.Â
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience with demonstrated ability and understanding of fieldwork and community-directed health programs.
Additional Requirements:Â Â
- Self-motivated and capable of working well with limited supervisionÂ
- Bilingual: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Amharic, and the local language of the duty station
- Good interpersonal and management skills
- Willingness to work for extended hours when needed and travel to field sites frequently
- Prior work experience in the regionÂ
- A recommendation letter from the most recent employerÂ
