Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to strengthen our financial management systems and ensure the highest level of fiscal integrity across all programs. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining financial accountability, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting our mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements 
• Manage budgeting processes and provide financial forecasting
• Ensure strict compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, NGO regulations, and donor requirements
• Lead annual audit processes and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
• Develop and implement robust financial policies and internal controls
• Prepare timely donor financial reports and manage restricted fund accounting
• Mentor and supervise junior finance staff members
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure financial alignment with project objectives

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• 3+ years in NGO/development sector or with donor-funded projects
• Proven experience with major donors’ financial reporting requirements

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in accounting softwares 
• Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capability
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and NGO financial compliance
