Introduction

Research Ethics and Publication Office of Ethiopian Public Health Institute is mandated with the following major tasks:

1. Research Ethics and Publication Office serves as the secretariat for Ethiopian Public Health Institute Institutional Review Board EPHI-IRB. The board reviews research project proposals in the area of health and nutrition.

2. Ensures scientific and ethical integrity of ongoing and completed research projects, 
3. Organizes scientific forums and congress.
4. Serves as secretariat for the Ethiopian Journal of Public Health and Nutrition, which is published by EPHI, and
5. Provides capacity building training on research ethics 

The office seeks to recruit by transfer from other government institutions two health professionals with master degree in public health (MPH) and has relevant experience in health research.

Reporting Structure: reports to the head for research ethics and publication office.

Major duties and responsibilities:

• Accept research proposals submitted for review after ensuring all the requirements are fulfilled

• Register the protocol on the data base of the office

• Send proposal for assigned reviewers

• Send notifications/reminders for reviewers and researchers for tasks to be completed with due dates

• Compile comments from reviewers and schedule the for IRB meeting

• Prepare approval certificate for proposals reviewed and approved by the IRB

• Keep proper documentation of both hard copy and soft copies  

• Organize trainings given by the office 

• Administer the online proposal submission and review system

Master in Public Health (MPH) with at least six years of relevant experience in health research.
