Position: Mechanical Technician
Location: Kotu-Debre Birhan, Ethiopia
Reports to: Production & Technical Manager

Position Summary:
As a Mechanical Technician at our Edible Oil Plant, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of all mechanical systems through proactive preventive maintenance and prompt corrective actions. Your role is critical in minimizing downtime, enhancing production efficiency, and maintaining smooth plant operations. Your expertise will directly contribute to the plant’s success and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and tightening of machinery to ensure reliable operations.
• Perform corrective maintenance promptly to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability.
• Maintain machinery standards and streamline production processes to optimize operational efficiency.
• Strictly adhere to safety protocols during maintenance tasks and promptly report any safety or ergonomic concerns.
• Develop and execute maintenance plans to prevent equipment breakdowns and avoid costly repairs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and carry out necessary repairs to restore equipment functionality quickly.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including service logs and repairs.
• Monitor inventory levels for spare parts and tools, ensuring that necessary supplies are readily available.
• Fine-tune machine settings to optimize mechanical performance and overall system efficiency.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues on machine operation, safety protocols, and troubleshooting.

Qualification Requirements:

• Preferably candidates from and residing in Chacha, Kotu, or Debre Birhan.
• TVET Diploma in General Mechanics or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing software.
• Willingness to perform maintenance tasks outside regular business hours as needed.
