Inventory Supervisor

Job summary:

As Inventory Supervisor you will oversee the ordering, storing, and distributing processes of our inventory items at site. You will collaborate closely with all departments on site to, at any given time, have a sufficient stock of all necessary items to run the operation. You control inventory flow by using protocols that help avoid loss, track supplies effectively while also analyzing how much stock should actually exist at any one time in order to prevent under-reporting or overcounting. It is crucial that you identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

.Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• As Inventory Supervisor, you are responsible for maintaining daily records of items in stock in order to identify what needs to be ordered versus what is available. 
• You will use inventory tracking software for inventory control procedures, review stock, document daily use of items and deliveries for inventory replenishment and analyses suppliers to minimize costs. 
• You should conduct regular audits and perform cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory records.
• You will be responsible for spare parts, consumables, equipment in stock, stored equipment and more. 
• You should know lead-times for procurement of all items and specifically items that are key to production or can lead to stops in production. 
• You should know when there are preferred suppliers of specific items and red flag situations where we might get out of stock on critical items.
• Some stocked items have hazards attached to them and these should be stored and handled in a safe manner.
• Other items might be high-value items and you should, together with the security department, handle and store such items in a secure manner

Education and Work Experience

• 1st  degree in Mining / Industrial Engineering , supply chain management, inventory management, logistics, or a related field and minimum five years of equivalent experience

Other Requirements

• Inventory Management experience 
• Computer literate Excel and word ( Candidates will be tested by myself on this) 
• English literate ( Speak/read/write) 
• Track record ( references to be checked) 
• Good communication and leadership skills
