Position Overview:
A Primary School English Teacher is responsible for teaching foundational English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening, to young learners. The role requires creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters students’ language development, creativity, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Instruction
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
- Teach English grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, and oral communication.
- Use interactive teaching methods, storytelling, and creative activities to enhance learning.
- Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
- Encourage good behavior and respect among students.
- Manage classroom activities to ensure active participation and engagement.
- Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, and exams.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Identify learning gaps and adapt teaching methods to meet students’ needs.
- Student Engagement & Development
- Foster a love for reading and writing among students.
- Support students’ social and emotional development through positive reinforcement.
- Implement character education traits as part of English lessons.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work with other teachers and school staff to enhance student learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents about students’ progress and behavior.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.
- Extracurricular & Enrichment Activities
- Organize English-related activities such as storytelling sessions, debates, or reading clubs.
- Encourage students to participate in school competitions and literary events.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Experience: Â +1 years prior teaching experience, preferably in primary education.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Creative teaching methods to make learning engaging.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching young learners.
- Ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles.
Work Conditions:
- Full-time position with standard school hours.
- Involves classroom-based teaching, occasional school meetings, and extracurricular involvement.
