Summary of the position
The Assistant Energy Officer is responsible to support the implementation of clean cooking solutions and energy-related business initiatives. This role involves engaging with refugee and host communities, supporting the development of energy cooperatives, and contributing to the project’s objectives to enhance livelihoods, reduce deforestation, and promote sustainable energy solutions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Project Implementation
Assist in establishing and supporting energy cooperatives (Fuel-Efficient Stoves and Briquette Production).
Support the delivery of technical training on the production of fuel-efficient stoves and briquettes using locally available materials.
Monitor and provide hands-on support for cooperatives during the production and marketing of clean energy products.
Prepares plan of action and budget for the programs and act accordingly
Coordinate and manage all project activities of the proposal, to include the establishment of indicators for its impact on sustainable energy awareness in the Community as well as an appropriate review and feedback mechanism for facilitating continuous improvement
Identify target groups to be supported and properly document the selection and distribution lists both in soft and hard copy
Prepares and submits periodic (weekly, monthly, quarter ) reports to project manager with the required reporting format
Community Engagement
Facilitate awareness campaigns to promote clean cooking solutions among refugee and host communities.
Assist in the identification and selection of vulnerable households to receive clean cooking stoves and briquettes.
Engage with local leaders, stakeholders, and community members to address challenges and improve adoption of clean energy solutions.
Prepares and submits periodic (weekly, monthly, quarter) reports to project manager with the required reporting format
Capacity Building
Provide coaching and mentoring to cooperative members on business development and technical skills.
Support the preparation and implementation of business plans for cooperatives.
Facilitate experience-sharing sessions with cooperatives and stakeholders to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Monitoring and Reporting
Collect data and track the progress of project activities.
Assist in compiling reports on the adoption of clean cooking solutions and cooperative performance.
Identify and document lessons learned and success stories for dissemination.
Coordinate consultancies for the energy activities including for feasibility study
Mobilize community via context appropriate methodologies to attract community participation.
Mainstream gender and child protection issues in the ongoing programs, implementing partners and different community structures.
Monitors and evaluate the implementation of program activities on continuous basis and take feasible corrective actions based on the findings.
Perform any other duties in keeping with job function as assigned by the Project Manager/area manager or his or her designate.

Educational Qualification and Experience
B.Sc. degree in degree in engineering, climate change, environmental science, business development or economics, with a minimum of two years practical work experience.
