DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs; Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration.  DEC would like to recruit for the following positions: Project Coordinator, MEL Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, Admin & Procurement Officer,  Area coordinator, MEL Officer, Admin & Finance Officer, Assistant Shelter Officer and Driver

Provide technical guidance; ensure that gender perspectives are meaningfully incorporated into program design, implementation, and monitoring. Represent DEC on  Gender and inclusion-related concerns in the program; Advocate for gender equality and inclusion within program implementation

The Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning coordinator participates in the planning, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities of Programs/Projects. She/he designs and participates in all PMEL-related activities, mobilizes resources, initiates and checks the implementations of programs/projects, and fosters collaborations to attain the organization’s mission and objectives.

Assistant Shelter Officer

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of shelter solutions in emergency settings.

  • Conduct assessments to determine shelter needs and technical requirements for affected populations.

  • Support in the preparation and maintenance of shelter construction plans and documentation.

  • Ensure the quality and compliance of shelter construction with humanitarian standards and guidelines.

  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to shelter teams and construction workers.

  • Coordinate logistics and materials procurement for shelter construction.

  • Monitor shelter construction progress and report on any issues or delays.

  • Collaborate with other sectors (e.g., WASH, ESNFI) to ensure integrated response efforts.

Qualification   BA/MA

  • Civil Engineer 

NGO/CSO Experience

  • 3 to 4 years 

Additional Skill

  •  Ability in shelter and infrastructure projects, preferably in humanitarian settings.

  • Knowledge of emergency shelter standards, materials, and techniques.

  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Full K

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with local building regulations and the Gambella region is a plus.
