Job Overview

Our client is seeking a proactive and results-driven RTM (Route-to-Market) Officer to support and enhance distribution performance across the FMCG division. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that products reach retail and wholesale outlets efficiently by designing, monitoring, and optimizing RTM strategies. The RTM Officer will work closely with distributors, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to improve market coverage and retail execution.

Key Responsibilities

RTM Strategy & Execution

  • Support the development and execution of RTM strategies, ensuring efficient product flow to retail, wholesale, and distributor outlets.

  • Identify and implement improvements in distribution models, territory planning, and outlet coverage.

Channel & Territory Optimization

  • Map current and potential distribution channels, segment customers by type and region, and recommend territory realignments for optimal sales coverage.

  • Evaluate outlet universe and propose expansion opportunities in under served areas.

Distributor & Sales Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor and analyze distributor and field sales team performance against key KPIs (coverage, availability, visibility, and execution).

  • Provide regular performance reports and recommend corrective actions.

Retail Execution Support

  • Assist in the implementation of retail activation and in-store execution standards.

  • Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to support trade promotions and product placement.

Data & Inventory Tracking

  • Track and report stock levels across the distribution chain to avoid stockouts or overstocking.

  • Collaborate with supply chain and inventory control teams to ensure product availability

Requirements

Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in sales operations, distribution planning, or route to-market execution, ideally in the FMCG sector. Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of RTM frameworks, distribution strategies, and field execution best practices.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with geographic and performance data.

  • Familiarity with FMCG distribution systems, retail channel structures, and market dynamics in Ethiopia.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools; experience with SFA (Sales Force Automation) systems is an advantage.
