Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Fleet Manager with over 10 years of hands-on experience in managing large-scale vehicle fleets. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and possesses a strong background in Transport Management, ensuring efficient operations, cost-effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and optimal vehicle performance. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Operations Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the company’s fleet, ensuring optimal vehicle utilization, maintenance, and availability.
    • Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
  • Maintenance & Technical Oversight:
    • Utilize mechanical engineering knowledge to ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are timely and effective.
    • Collaborate with technicians and service centers to reduce downtime and improve vehicle lifespan.
  • Logistics and Transport Coordination:
    • Optimize route planning and transport scheduling to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Manage vehicle allocation to meet business needs and delivery commitments.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control:
    • Prepare annual fleet budgets and control costs related to fuel, maintenance, insurance, and vehicle leasing or purchasing.
    • Analyze data and KPIs to drive cost-saving initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with transportation laws, licensing, permits, and health and safety regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records for audits, insurance, and legal purposes.
  • Team Leadership & Training:
  • Manage and mentor drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct training on safety, efficiency, and compliance standards.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Explore and recommend eco-friendly technologies and practices to reduce carbon footprint and fuel consumption.

β€’ Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in Transport/Fleet Management, Logistics, or Supply Chain is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet and transport management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in fleet management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Sound knowledge of transport laws, fuel management, and procurement.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience managing fleets of 100+ vehicles.
  • Exposure to both light and heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Knowledge of telematics, GPS tracking systems, and digital fleet solutions.
