Brief Introduction
REACH Ethiopia, formally established in 2013, originated from a 2010 tuberculosis (TB) re-search project. The organization is dedicated to fostering TB-free, inclusive, and sustainable community development through research, innovation, partnerships, and community-based interventions. Over the years, REACH Ethiopia has implemented more than 17 projects in collaboration with over 15 global partners, securing funding from prominent organizations such as USAID, Stop TB Partnership, Global Fund, Expertise France, and others. Its projects target key TB-affected and vulnerable populations, as well as women, infants, and children, across various regions in Ethiopia, including Sidama, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Oromia, Amhara, Tigray and Afar.
The Reaching Vulnerable and Key Affected Populations to Improve Access to TB Care in Pastoralist Areas of Ethiopia project is a three-year Expertise France-funded initiative aims to reduce TB burden and mortality in Zone 3 of Afar region in Ethiopia. The project focuses on identifying missed TB cases in communities, ensuring effective treatment for identified patients using a people-centered approach, enhancing TB prevention measures, and building local capacity for sustainable TB program leadership. As part of its efforts, REACH Ethiopia seeks to hire a Consultant Researcher with proven experience in public health operational research and program and project evaluation research. The consultant will manage the midterm assessment, planned to be conducted in the Project implementation area.Β
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the REACH Ethiopia Technical Director and M&E Director, the Consultant Researcher will be responsible for:
- Developing the study protocol and data collection tool.
- Coordinating the training of data collectors and suoervisors.
- Initiating and supervising data collection processes.
- Liaising with REACH Ethiopia Filed staff to facilitate field movements in target Kebeles.
- Conducting data analysis and preparing a detailed report.
- Preparing of midterm evaluation presentation

Required Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications:
- MD or BSc in Health Sciences with a masterβs degree in public health, Epidemiology, or a related field. Or Master of Degree in Social Sciences studies or StatisticsΒ
Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in research coordination, preferably in TB or public health research.

Proven track record of developing research protocols and managing midterm, final or Impact assessment studies, community-based studies.

At least 4 peer-reviewed journal publications, with the candidate serving as the first author for at least one.
Desirable Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in local languages is an asset.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and research software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
Duration of Assignment
- Contract Period: 45 days (May 1βJune 01, 2025).
- Activity Assignment sites Location: The assessment will be conducted at different levels of the project implementation include Central office the Activity is coordinated, Semar where the major key stakeholder (Afar Regional Health Bureau) exist, Awash Sebat where the actual project implemented.
