Job Summary

The Workplace Health & Sanitation Coordinator ensures a clean, hygienic, and safe environment across all areas of the organization. The role involves coordinating laundry services, maintaining sanitation standards, and providing essential nursing care and first aid. This position plays a key role in promoting health and safety compliance critical to a medical device manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Ensure production areas, offices, and communal spaces are cleaned and disinfected following strict schedules.

  • Maintain hygiene standards according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Inspect cleaning equipment and supplies regularly and request replenishments as required.

  • Handle and dispose of waste according to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

2. Laundry Coordination

  • Manage collection, washing, drying, and distribution of staff uniforms and other textiles.

  • Ensure laundry operations meet hygiene protocols, especially for controlled environments.

  • Maintain laundry inventory and coordinate timely cleaning to avoid shortages.

  • Monitor laundry equipment performance and ensure timely repairs or maintenance.

3. Basic Nursing and First Aid Care

  • Provide first aid and basic healthcare to employees experiencing injuries or illnesses at the workplace.

  • Manage the first aid station, ensuring all medical supplies are replenished regularly.

  • Conduct basic health checks, such as temperature monitoring and vital signs assessments.

  • Support health-related activities, including awareness campaigns and personal hygiene training.

  • Assist HR in managing employee health records and coordinate medical referrals when necessary.

4. Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene policies according to Ethiopian labor laws and industry standards.

  • Report incidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions promptly to management.

  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including evacuation drills and safety training.

Qualifications

Experience Required

1+ years of experience in nursing, healthcare, or a similar role.

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Skills Required

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to provide first aid and manage workplace emergencies efficiently.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
