Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior cost and budget accountant to join our manufacturing company. As a senior cost and budget accountant you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our company’s coast and budgeting activities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate cost analysis, effective budget planning, and provide valuable insights to drive financial decision-making within the company.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost and Budget Accountant to join our manufacturing company. As a Senior Cost and Budget Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our company’s cost and budgeting activities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate cost analysis, effective budget planning, and provide valuable insights to drive financial decision-making within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of production costs, including direct and indirect costs, and identify areas for cost optimization.

  • Develop and implement cost control measures to improve operational efficiency and reduce expenses.

  • Prepare regular cost reports and variance analysis to track actual costs against budgeted costs.

  • Budget Planning and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and long-term financial projections.

  • Monitor budgetary performance and provide timely analysis and recommendations to management for budget adjustments.

  • Conduct regular forecasting to assess future financial needs and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Cost Accounting:

  • Establish and maintain standard costing systems to accurately allocate costs to products and services.

  • Monitor inventory valuation and perform periodic inventory reconciliations.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls related to cost accounting.

  • Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support key business decisions and investment opportunities.

  • Evaluate the financial impact of new product development, capital expenditures, and other strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and assess business cases for new projects.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Continuously review cost accounting processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.

  • Implement and streamline cost accounting procedures to enhance accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

  • Drive initiatives to automate and optimize cost and budgeting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal auditing, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience in cost accounting and budgeting within the manufacturing industry.

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and techniques.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.

  • Experience working on Peachtree and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

  •  Integrity and Ethics: Demonstrated high ethical standards, objectivity, and confidentiality while handling sensitive information. Ability to maintain independence and exercise sound judgment.
