National Transport PLC, a subsidiary of East African Holding, seeks a high-performing Sales Manager to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth, ensuring competitiveness and innovation. The successful candidate will develop, plan, and execute sales and marketing strategies, craft transport and cement sales targets, and collaborate across departments for maximum impact.

This role requires a dynamic individual who can lead the sales and marketing teams, analyze market trends, and implement strategies that ensure growth and competitive advantage.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Development and Implementation
    • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to attract new clients and seize growth opportunities aligned with the company’s objectives.
    • Design and oversee marketing research initiatives to identify market trends and opportunities.
  2. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Prepare and present detailed sales reports, including areas for client base expansion and performance analysis.
    • Monitor sales performance against targets, identify gaps, and design corrective measures to achieve objectives.
  3. Campaign Management
    • Coordinate sales and marketing campaigns to meet business goals effectively.
    • Assess and refine marketing techniques to ensure alignment with sales objectives.
  4. Leadership and Team Management
    • Direct and coach the sales and marketing team, providing performance assessments and training to address skill gaps.
    • Foster a collaborative environment to promote knowledge sharing and enhance team performance.
  5. Internal and External Collaboration
    • Maintain effective internal communication between sales, marketing, operations, and finance teams.
    • Collaborate with the operations and finance departments to set competitive pricing, determine route profitability, and align strategies with organizational capabilities.
  6. Client Engagement
    • Prepare competitive quotations and tenders for clients while researching market rates.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive customer retention and satisfaction.
  7. Sales Goals Ownership
    • Take full responsibility for meeting or exceeding sales targets, ensuring all efforts align with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • MA/BA in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8 years (with MA) or 10 years (with BA) of relevant experience in driving revenue growth and market share.
    • Experience in the transportation industry is a strong advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities, with a creative and innovative mindset.
    • Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building strong relationships with stakeholders.
    • Analytical skills to monitor market trends and make data-driven decisions.
