Role Overview: 

The YADAM Foundation is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Research Consultant with a strong background in Natural Sciences and a focus on Qualitative Data Analysis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading the design of data collection instruments, developing key messages, and collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative data to generate meaningful insights for one of our projects. These insights will inform our project team and advocacy efforts, contributing to the overall mission of the foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Collection Instrument Design: Develop and refine qualitative data collection instruments such as interview guides, Observations, and focus group discussion protocols.

• Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., Civil society organizations, government officials, and Nutrition program officers) to identify key messages that resonate with each specific audience.

• Key Message Development: Craft clear and impactful key messages to support advocacy and communication efforts.

• Develop narratives and storytelling techniques to communicate key messages and engage stakeholders.

• Organize Capacity-building training for the Data Collectors: Provide training and mentorship to the team on qualitative data collection, Guidelines, and techniques.

• Data Collection:  Lead and manage the process of qualitative data collection, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data gathered from various sources.

• Data Categorization, Organization, and Management: Organize and manage qualitative data systematically and efficiently, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

• Data Analysis: Conduct rigorous qualitative data analysis using appropriate methods and tools, identifying key themes, patterns, and insights.

• Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that effectively communicate the findings and their implications for the foundation’s projects and advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.

• Proven experience in qualitative research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

• Strong background in designing data collection instruments and developing key messages.

• Knowledge & Familiarity with issues related multi-sectoral dimensions of nutrition and up-to-date knowledge of the trends at regional, federal, and continental levels.

• Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software

• Knowledge of research ethics and data confidentiality. 

• Experience in organizing and managing capacity-building workshops and trainings.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
