The RMNCHN Advisor will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to improve reproductive, maternal, child health, and nutrition outcomes. The role places a strong emphasis on advancing family planning, maternal and child health, maternal and child nutrition, and strengthening maternal health services, including Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC). The Advisor will also play a critical role in initiating, developing, and sharing best practices and lessons learned in RMNCH and Nutrition to ensure continuous learning and program improvement.Â
Key Roles and responsibilities:  This job holder will have but not limited to the following list of key roles and responsibilities Â
Strategic Planning and LeadershipÂ

Develop and implement strategies to address family planning, maternal and child health, maternal and child nutrition, and maternal health with a particular focus on BEmONC services.Â

Provide technical leadership to ensure alignment with evidence-based practices and national health priorities.Â
Technical Support and Capacity BuildingÂ
-
Offer technical expertise in maternal and child nutrition, ensuring the integration of nutrition-sensitive approaches into maternal and child health interventions.Â

Provide support for maternal health interventions, including BEmONC, to improve quality of care and outcomes.Â

Design and deliver training, mentorship, and tools for healthcare providers and community health teams to strengthen family planning, maternal and child nutrition services.Â
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)Â
-
Collaborate with the MEL team to evaluate the impact of maternal and child nutrition, family planning, and BEmONC interventions.Â

Analyze program data to identify gaps and make evidence-driven improvements in maternal and child nutrition services.Â

Document, develop, and share best practices and lessons learned to inform future RMNCH and nutrition programming.Â
Advocacy and Stakeholder EngagementÂ

Advocate for improved funding, policy support, and collaboration in maternal and child nutrition, family planning, and maternal health initiatives.Â

Develop and maintain partnerships with government entities, donors, and community organizations to strengthen programs and services.Â
Program Innovation and ResearchÂ

Promote operational research to address gaps in maternal and child nutrition services.Â

Encourage the adoption of innovative tools and approaches to enhance reproductive, maternal, and child health outcomes.Â
QualificationsÂ
-
Advanced degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nutrition, or a related field.Â

A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing programs focused on family planning, maternal and child health, maternal and child nutrition, and maternal health services, including BEmONC.Â

Proven expertise in maternal health, emergency obstetric care, and nutrition-sensitive programming.Â

Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s health policies and strategies in maternal and child health and nutrition.Â

Demonstrated experience in initiating, developing, and sharing best practices and lessons learned in RMNCH and Nutrition programs.Â

Relevant experience in NGO-supported service delivery settings.Â

Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder engagement skills.Â
Preferred experiencesÂ

Candidates with a public health background with a specialization in nutrition or 7 or more years of relevant MCH and nutrition experience are highly preferred.Â

Experience working on maternal and child nutrition initiatives at the community and facility levels.Â

Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools and techniques in the context of nutrition and maternal health.Â

Proficiency in developing context-specific messages for maternal health, family planning, and nutrition initiatives.Â

Multilingual abilities, particularly fluency in English and local languages.Â
