ABOUT REACH, IMPACT & ACTED REACH was created in 2010 as a joint initiative of two International NGOs (IMPACT Initiatives and ACTED) and the United Nations Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT). REACH’s purpose is to promote and facilitate the development of information products that enhance the humanitarian community’s decision making and planning capacity for emergency, reconstruction and development contexts. REACH facilitates information management for aid actors through three complementary services: (a) need and situation assessments facilitated by REACH teams; (b) situation analysis using satellite imagery; (c) provision of related database and (web)-mapping facilities and expertise. IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. REACH’s field interventions benefit from ACTED’s operational support. REACH/ACTED staff span across regions in Ethiopia, with a central office in Addis Ababa. |
JOB PURPOSE Under the supervision of the REACH Senior Assessment officer, the Assessment Assistant will support a research unit within REACH Ethiopia mission with all aspects of research design, data collection, data processing, data analysis, and the creation of information products. The Assessment Assistant will use their technical experience, subject matter knowledge, and creative thinking skills to improve ways of working within the unit. |
FUNCTIONS Under the supervision of the REACH Senior Assessment officer, the Assessment Assistant will be supporting the processes and outputs related to REACH Assessments, products and data, across multiple REACH Research Cycles in Ethiopia. JOB REQUIREMENTS
-
Excellent academic qualifications with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as international studies, development, humanitarian response, data science or political science.

Excellent team working skills
-
Excellent verbal and written communication and drafting skills for effective reporting is required.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Software skills. Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility

Language skills Fluency in English required

Ability to think creatively and use initiative to develop new tools and processes
DESIRABLE
- Experience in humanitarian projects and/or organizations

Knowledge and skills in Area based approaches

Experience in geographical region Past experience in the mentioned regions.
