Job Description:Β 

The Qualitative Data Collector will gather high-quality data to inform our strategic initiatives. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen understanding of qualitative research methodologies. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in one of the following areas: WASH, health, education, or agriculture, particularly in relation to nutrition.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct In-Depth Interviews:

  • Plan and conduct in-depth interviews with high-level stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, industry experts, and community leaders.

  • Establish rapport with interviewees and create a comfortable environment for open and honest dialogue.

  • Actively listen and probe for deeper insights.

  • Accurately document interview responses, including verbatim quotes and observations.

Gather Qualitative Data:

  • Collect qualitative data through various methods, including interviews, focus group discussions, participant observation, and document analysis.

  • Design and administer questionnaires.

  • Analyze qualitative data using appropriate techniques.

Ensure Data Quality:

  • Maintain meticulous records of all data collection activities.

  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical considerations throughout the data collection process.

Reports:

  • Summarize and synthesize qualitative data findings.

  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.

  • Communicate research findings to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in conducting qualitative research, including in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.

  • Prior experience in one of the following areas: WASH, health, education, or agriculture, particularly in relation to nutrition is Preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent active listening, writing, and observation skills.

  • Ability to build rapport and establish trust with interviewees.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software.

  • Knowledge of research ethics and data confidentiality.

  • Experience in organizing and managing capacity-building workshops and training sessions.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
