Good Neighbors (GNE) is a global NGO founded in Korea in 1991, currently operating in 40 countries and supported by seven support countries. Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) one of GN Field Countries operating in Ethiopia since 1997. 

GNE has been committed to improving lives marginalized community segments through initiatives in child protection, education, Basic health services, Income Generation Activities (IGAs), Humanitarian and emergency, Livelihood for refugees and host communities, Climate and Environment sectors. GNE operates in eight regions of Ethiopia that includes; Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia regions and City Administration of Addis Ababa. 

Good Neighbors Ethiopia is seeking a well-qualified individuals to join our team who can contribute to Project management and community empowerment; 

  • Job Position: Operation officer [OD officer]

  • Reports to: Operations Department Manager

  • Term of Employment: one (1) year with possibilities of extension subject to performance result of the candidate

  • Duty Station(s): Addis Ababa with occasional travel to project field office

  • Required Number: Two (2)

Overview of the Position

As a member of the Operation Department, Operation Officer is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of community development projects, including tasks like coordinating with community stakeholders, monitoring project progress, facilitating capacity building activities, and ensuring projects are delivered effectively and meet the needs of the target community. Provide technical support to the project in child protection, education, Basic health services, Income Generation Activities (IGAs), Humanitarian and emergency, Livelihood for refugees and host communities, Climate and Environment sectors of GNE. Key duties and responsibilities include:

        Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Assist in developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and work breakdown structures. 

  • Facilitate community needs assessments to identify key priorities and project goals.

  • Oversee project activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and deadlines. 

  • Manage project budgets and monitor expenditures. 

    Community Engagement and Mobilization:

  • Conduct community outreach and awareness campaigns to inform residents about project opportunities. 

  • Organize community meetings and workshops to gather feedback and build consensus on project implementation. 

  • Establish and work with community-based organizations (CBOs) and local leaders to facilitate project participation. 

  • Empower community members to take ownership of projects and contribute actively. 

    Capacity Building and Training:

  • Provide training and technical support to community members and CBOs on project management, leadership skills, and relevant technical areas as per CDP manager request. 

  • Develop and deliver capacity-building workshops to enhance project team knowledge  and skill on project management.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Establish robust monitoring systems to track project progress and identify areas for improvement. 

  • Collect and analyze data to assess project impact and effectiveness. 

  • Prepare regular project reports for stakeholders, including funders and community members. 

    Partnership Building and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with local government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise. 

  • Foster strong relationships with community leaders and build trust to facilitate project implementation. 

  • Coordinate with other project teams to ensure alignment and synergy across initiatives. 

    Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and financial records. 

  • Prepare timely reports to funders and other stakeholders detailing project activities and achievements. 

Education and Work experiences:

  •   The applicant must have BA or Master degree in Community Development, Development studies, Sociology, Social work and Project Evaluation.

  • Four (4) years for BA degree and  Two (2) Years for Master degree holder work experience in community development, Sponsorship based Project management.

  • Strong community Mobilization skill with sociable approach.

  • Project M&E experience is an asset.
