About EPS and the Project

The Ethiopian Pediatric Society (EPS) is a voluntary association committed to advancing child health in Ethiopia. EPS, with the sub-grant obtained from Engender Health is implementing the Integrated RMNCH + PPFP Scale-Up Project in high case load facilities. This initiative aims to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality by increasing the uptake of voluntary FP and integrated RMNCH services at high-caseload facilities across Ethiopia.

EPS’s role focuses on strengthening the FP/RMNCH-N continuum of care, fostering integrated service delivery, and catalyzing scale-up efforts.

In addition, EPS  is collaborating with the American Academy of pediatrics  (AAP) in the Implementation research  on a Suicide Prevention package co-created with lived-experience community members in Ethiopia. The research will be conducted in Addis Ababa, Jima , Gondar and Haromya universities 

Job Description:

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will work closely with the Project Manager to design, implement, and oversee the M&E framework for these projects. This role involves coordination of data collection, quality assurance, analysis, visualization, and interpretation to ensure program effectiveness and recommend improvements. S/he will be responsible for overseeing and supervising all study sites and ensure the generation and management of the data from all the study sites with high quality standards. 

Specific roles and responsibilities include

  • Oversee and supervise screening and enrollment data to ensure the project data is of high quality. 
  • Routinely review the data from the study sites, 
  • Manage any technical issues with data collection, storage, management and analysis 
  • Conduct rapid and rigorous data analysis including trend analysis and share with study investigators, study manager and hospital-based study teams
  • Closely work with the study data management partner and AAP team to ensure data generation, storage, management, and analysis runs smoothly 
  • Develop and implement M&E frameworks and tools to track project performance and outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate IPPFP and RMNCH service delivery at high-caseload facilities.
  • Conduct rapid data analysis and generate insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data collection and quality assurance.
  • Prepare periodic M&E reports and document lessons learned.
  • Work together with Implementation officer and program learning officer to analyze, learn, document,  and continuously improve project implementation approaches
  • Delivering other tasks as given by the project manager

Station: Addis Ababa, with frequent travel to high-caseload health facilities

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • Master’s degree in health science required with at least two years of experience in in health-related data management or M&E positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health science required with at least four years of experience in in health-related data management or M&E positions.
  • Proven experience in data quality, analysis, evaluation, and reporting.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, Stata, R).
  • Expertise in creating data visualization dashboards (Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection tools (ODK, KoBoToolbox, REDCap).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills in implementation research is advantageous
