Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled LMS Development and Management Specialist to lead the on-site operations of our Learning Management System. This individual will be responsible for developing and enhancing the LMS platform, handling daily trainee support, and supervising interns involved in platform testing, content upload, and learner support.
This role requires a hands-on developer who is also a strong mentor, capable of managing junior talent while advancing a cutting-edge training platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Bemanda’s LMS platform (primarily Moodle and open-source systems).

  • Develop new features and customize existing modules to meet evolving training needs.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of interns and junior support staff involved in:

  1. Course upload and update

  2. Multimedia content testing

  3. User support and troubleshooting

  4. QA and learner progress monitoring
     

  • Respond to trainee concerns and system issues within 24 hours.

  • Manage platform access, enrollments, and user permissions for trainees and instructors.

  • Generate periodic performance reports and analytics for training progress tracking.

  • Collaborate with instructional designers, trainers, and media teams to optimize course content and delivery.

  • Edit, organize, and upload multimedia elements (audio, video, graphics) as part of the training content.

  • Integrate AI-powered educational tools such as ChatGPT, Synthesia, Pictory, Grammarly, and others.

  • Stay up-to-date on LMS trends, plugins, and best practices to continually improve platform functionality.

Department: Project Management Division 

Location: On-site – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Bemanda Solutions Office) 

Employment Type: Full-Time

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, and SQL.

  • Experience with Moodle and other open-source LMS platforms (Canvas, Chamilo, Open edX, etc.).

  • Strong multimedia skills including graphic design and audio/video editing (Adobe Suite, Camtasia, Canva, etc.).

  • Experience managing or mentoring junior staff or interns.

  • Familiarity with AI tools for education such as ChatGPT, Synthesia, Pictory, ElevenLabs, etc.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and leadership ability in a fast-paced, training-focused environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of LMS content standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI integrations).

  • Background in managing large-scale training programs or education platforms.

  • UI/UX knowledge for educational tools.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to lead a small team effectively.
