About ASDEPO:

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged in different thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromiya, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar and Somali Region. 

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director Income Generating Activities Managing Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the overall income generating activities of ASDEPO.

KEY Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the overall IGAs of ASDEPO.
  • Proactively participates in baseline and end line data collection for IGA interventions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to teams responsible for income generation and enterprise development.
  • Align income generation strategies with ASDEPO mission and long-term goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for social enterprises and income-generating activities.
  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities that align with the ASDEPO mission and create sustainable revenue streams.
  • Oversee the development and scaling of existing and new social enterprises.
  • Ensure that all income-generating activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and cultivate potential donors, investors, and corporate partners to support social enterprise initiatives.
  • Develop innovative funding models, including impact investments, grants, and earned revenue strategies.
  • Lead proposal writing and partnership negotiations to secure financial support for income-generating projects.
  • Drive innovation and ensure that social enterprise initiatives remain competitive and impactful.
  • Harmonizes the implementation of IGA activities within the intervention areas and ensuring good collaboration and networking with other partners operating in the production of similar products or services
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport with project beneficiaries, as well as local government officials, community leaders and relevant local organizations;
  • Develop and share monthly, quarterly and half yearly progress/monitoring reports to the senior Management and the Executive Director
  • Take active part in the planning, implementation, review and reporting process
  • Comply with the ASDEPO policies  and adherence to Ethiopian laws and that of our partner.
  • Maintain and promote good image of the organization with its associates, including donors, clients, partners and Federal and local government authorities
  • Work jointly with resource mobilization and Donor relation Department.
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Social Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience

  • 6/8 years relevant experience (NGO sector experience is advantageous)

Skills

  • Proven track record in social enterprise development, income generation, or fundraising for NGOs.

  •  Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of impact investing, grant funding, and social enterprise legal frameworks.
