Position Title: HR and Welfare Officer
Location: Juba, South Sudan
Reports to: Head of HR

Contract Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The HR and Welfare Officer will support the implementation of human resource policies and practices, ensure employee well-being, and foster a safe and productive working environment. This role is key to managing staff relations, welfare programs, and compliance with labor laws and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Functions:

  • Support recruitment processes including job advertising, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and personnel files.
  • Assist in payroll preparation and attendance tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with national labor laws and organizational HR policies.
  • Coordinate staff performance management processes.
  • Support training, development, and capacity-building initiatives.

Welfare & Staff Engagement:

  • Promote employee well-being through welfare programs and support systems.
  • Organize staff engagement activities (e.g., team-building events, wellness days).
  • Serve as the focal point for staff concerns, grievances, and feedback.
  • Assist in managing employee health, safety, and psychosocial support initiatives.
  • Support in creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a similar HR or welfare role, preferably with an NGO, INGO, or international organization.
  • Strong knowledge of South Sudan Labor Law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); HR software is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic or other local languages are an asset.
