Health And Safety/Compliance Officer

Shangtex Garment Manufacturing PLC belongs to Orient Internal (Holding) Co. LTD, which is one of the largest textile and garment import & export groups in China. The company is listed 275th among China’s top 500 companies in 2024. Ethiopia Factory is the first investment of Garment Manufacturing Base  in Africa from the Group.The total investment of the Ethiopian factory exceeds 50 Million USD, which is one of the largest single investments in Ethiopia. There are 2 phases of the project, total 100,000 square meters.  Phase I covers an area of 55,000 square meters, manufacturing area 60,000 square meters, 3 buildings.  Phase I plans a sweater factory, with total capacity of 10 million pieces per year.   Phase II has 45,000 square meters under planning, focus on Textile and value chain supporting to Phase I.  Our factory is the largest scale for sweater manufacturing in the whole Africa.    

Job Summary: We are looking for a qualified Health And Safety Officer to support Company Compliance Work to monitor the Onsite Compliance Issue, assist for training and policy making. The ideal candidate should be positive and good at communication and English speaking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow the implementation of internal policy and procedure of the company 
• Review and assist for revising the previous health and safety related policies and procedure 
• Conduct internal monthly health and safety (onsite) Audit and prepare report
• Communicate with related external third party organization for working environment Inspection( Light level, Temperature level, Heat stress, Nosie level…)
• Develop the knowledge and skill of the employee about the work place health and safety through training according to internal training schedule.      
• Conduct work place risk assessment for identification of hazard and control the injury related to work and keep the controlling methods for the identified hazards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in OHS, Chemical Engineering, Management or a related field.
• Have a strong sensitivity to numbers and good calculation ability.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with less than one year of working experience are welcome to apply.
• Age: Under 26.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Willingness to accept overtime and manage work pressure effectively.
• Good at communication and English speaking.
