The Ethiopian Mediation and Arbitration Center (EMAC), formerly known as the Ethiopian Arbitration and Conciliation Center, was established in 2004 with the aim of promoting and providing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services across Ethiopia. EMAC is committed to fostering peaceful conflict resolution and social harmony in the country. EMAC’s work extends to both humanitarian and business-related disputes. While its ADR mechanisms promote peaceful conflict resolution for social coexistence, they also contribute to creating a favourable environment for investment, thus promoting economic growth.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance and Administration Officer to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in managing the financial and administrative operations of the organization, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly organized and skilled Finance and Administration Officer to manage our financial records, prepare budgets, ensure compliance with regulations, and oversee administrative operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, alongside excellent administrative and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and statements.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and receipts.
- Administer payroll and ensure compliance with tax laws and labor regulations.
- Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with audits and liaise with auditors as necessary.
Administrative Support:
- Oversee daily office operations, including supply and equipment management.
- Coordinate meetings, conferences, and office events.
- Handle internal and external correspondence and ensure effective communication.
- Maintain an organized filing system and ensure proper documentation.
- Support HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and staff records.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and organizational policies.
- Provide regular updates and reports on financial performance to senior management.
- Support the preparation of annual reports, funding proposals, and compliance documentation.
Other Duties:
- Collaborate across departments to support organizational objectives.
- Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and contractors.
- Perform other administrative and finance-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in finance, accounting, and administrative roles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel, etc.) and office productivity tools.
- Strong understanding of financial management principles and payroll systems.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the non-profit sector or similar industries.
- Knowledge of local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is a plus.
