Job Description

Environmentalists Development Association – Ethiopia (EDA-E) is a not-for-profit indigenous NGO engaged in the implementation of development activities like ecosystem protection/natural resources management, promotion of renewable energies, undertaking WASH program and participating in humanitarian responses, etc.

EDAE is looking for an experienced Emergency Response Officer for its office in Addis Ababa with extensive travel to the project areas.

Job Summery

The Emergency Response Officer will support the Emergency Response Director in writing proposals and reports as well as implementing humanitarian response projects. He/she will be responsible for the coordination and support of the field staff that includes but not limited to supervising the project activities. 

Gender: 

  • Female/Male; Preference will be given to female applicants with the same qualifications.

Age: 27 – 37

Terms of Employment: Six months contract with possibility of extension depending on available funds and performance of the applicant. 

Duty Station: Addis Ababa with at least 50% field travel.

Salary: As per the organizational scale.

Required Skills

  • Excellent understanding of the objectives and working environment of the humanitarian response projects at global and local level.

  • Good proposal writing and reporting skills.

  • Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.

  • Excellent coordination and team spirit skills.

  • Ability to work with limited amenities and quick adaptation to the crises areas.   

  • Demonstrated ability to learn the mandatory policies and guidelines for the sector.

  • Proficiency to use MS Office.  

Qualification and Experience 

Education: 

  • BA/MA or BSc/MSc in any field.

Experience: 

  • At least 5 years work experience with a minimum of 3 years in NGO sector.

Language: 

  • Excellent English and Amharic. Additional language skill are advantageous.
