1. About CVM

Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 by a group of people who had deeply dedicated but also had the concern to help people in their struggle to exist in this world irrespective of who are and where they are from. Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration. CVM is being implemented diverse projects in different regions of Ethiopia.

2. Overall Job purpose:

Support CVM project in the areas of Driving Services and related assignments. Support day to day Support functions of the field office team. He is responsible for the smooth Driving service to the field office and proper management of the assigned Vehicle

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transport personnel and designated individuals across all areas as indicated in the mission documents
  • Check security situation and road condition before departure.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including regular and extraordinary management (insurance, maintenance, mandatory technical checks, etc.)
  • Manage and update the vehicle’s logbook
  • Loads should be within weight and size limits. They should be safely secured and evenly balanced to ensure there is no danger of the load slipping.
  • Clean the vehicle and perform routine checks to ensure it is equipped with the necessary tools for work
  • Ensure that any trips outside of regular working hours are formally approved by the operations supervisor
  • Immediately report to the supervisor any incidents involving the organization’s vehicles
  • Hold a valid driving license for both long base vehicles and pickup trucks
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of vehicle mechanics
  • Be familiar with basic tools for managing responsibilities related to vehicle upkeep
  • The role requires a driver who can ensure safe, efficient, and well-maintained transport for the project, with a focus on professionalism and adherence to operational protocols.

4. Professional requirements:

  • Secondary School graduate
  • Valid 3rd grade driving license (old curriculum ) or public 2 driving license( new Curriculum)
  • Five years driving experience (4×4) including remote areas.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair is mandatory
  • Demonstrated experience travelling to hardship areas with longer stay.
  • Excellent knowledge of Amharic, a good level of English and ability to speak and listen local language is an asset.
  • Good command of verbal English ability to write short report
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective collaboration within CVM team and across member and partner organizations.
  • Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
  • Proven record of accident- free driving is a plus
  • NGO experience is preferred
  • Experience in the local context is advantageous
