The Community Engagement/Mobilization coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the community engagement and demand generation programs to build strong relationships with communities, stakeholders, and partners in a way that supports program implementation. The coordinator will lead area program offices’ effort to mobilize and engage with community members, community leaders and other community structures, raise awareness about key initiatives, and ensure active participation in programs aimed at improving sexual reproductive health of the community.Â
Key Roles and responsibilities:Â Â
This job holder will have but not limited to the following list of key roles and responsibilitiesÂ
Community Engagement & MobilizationÂ

Develop and implement strategies to address socio-cultural and gender-based barriers to family planning and SRH services Â

Coordinate community based SBCC activities, social mobilizations, meetings, awareness campaigns.Â

Coordinate the collaborate with community and religious leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to foster partnerships and encourage participationÂ
-
Coordinate household visits, focus group discussions, and public forums to gather insights on community needs Â
-
Develop gender-sensitive, culturally appropriate IEC/BCC materials on SRH, adolescent SRH, family planning, and harmful traditional practices in local languagesÂ
Advocacy & Capacity BuildingÂ

Develop standardized tools to train community volunteers, peer educators, and local champions to promote SRH, adolescent SRH and family planning.Â

Coordinate and advocate for community-driven solutions and empower local groups to take ownership of projects.Â

Identify and address cultural and social barriers that may hinder program acceptance and participation.Â
Monitoring & ReportingÂ

Coordinates area program offices to gather community feedback and assess the impact of community engagement activities.Â

Maintain accurate records of meetings, events, and community participation.Â

Prepare reports and success stories to document lessons learned and best practices.Â
Collaboration & CommunicationÂ
-
Coordinate with program teams, government agencies, NGOs, and local partners to align community engagement efforts.Â

Develop IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials for community awareness.Â
-
Serve as the primary link between the organization and the community, ensuring timely and transparent communication.Â
Qualifications & Experience:Â
Education:Â
-
Master’s degree in public with specialty in health education and behavior, General Public Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.Â
-
At least 5 years of directly relevant experience in community engagement, advocacy, mobilization, demand creation, and leading the production of IEC/BCC strategies and materials.Â
Technical Skills:Â

SBCC Tool Development:Â Relevant technical, practical, and conceptual understanding of developing Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) tools focusing on:Â

Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)Â
-
Family Planning (FP)Â
-
Social and Gender barriers to SRH servicesÂ

Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH)Â
-
Community Engagement:Â Relevant experience in conducting and coordinating community engagement programs.Â
Cultural Knowledge:Â

Strong knowledge of local cultures, traditions, and social dynamics in the target community.Â

Experience:Â

Experience working with NGOs, government programs, or development initiatives is an advantage.Â
Skills & Competencies:Â

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:Â Strong ability to communicate and interact with various stakeholders. Proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.Â

Facilitation Experience:Â Experience in facilitating community meetings, trainings, and dialogues.Â

Relationship Building:Â Ability to build trust and relationships with diverse groups.Â

Strong organizational and project management skills:Â Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.Â

Problem-Solving and conflict resolution Skills:Â Capable of handling challenges in fieldwork and finding solutions.Â

Monitoring & Evaluation:Â Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting techniques.Â

Proficiency in using social media and digital communication toolsÂ

Ability to work independently and as part of a teamÂ
Work Conditions:Â

Frequent Travel:Â Regular field visits and travel to both rural and urban communities.Â

Flexible Hours:Â Working hours may vary depending on community schedules and program needs.Â

Cultural Sensitivity:Â Engage with vulnerable populations, requiring a high level of cultural sensitivity and professionalism.Â
