About CHFE

The Children Heart Fund of Ethiopia is a local, non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1989 by Dr. Belay Abegaz. The organization aims to provide free cardiac surgeries and care for children with heart diseases. Since its establishment, CHFE has provided its care for over 9,000 children. The charity offers its services at no charge, relying solely on donations from local and international individuals, groups, and organizations.

Position Overview

The Children Heart Fund of Ethiopia covers the costs of its free medical services through donations. The charity’s public relation and communication department is responsible for fundraising efforts and managing media and communication activities. The Communication and Fundraising Officer will play a key role in these activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness about the charity’s mission and services.

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage events.

  • Produce content for websites, social media, and broadcast media.

  • Develop and execute fundraising plans and campaigns.

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and potential donors.

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, project proposals, and donor reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any health-related or non-health-related field.

  • GPA 3:00 and above 

  • Prior experience in volunteering and fundraising.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in social media management and content creation.

  • A passion for helping others.

  • Good presentation and presentation material preparation skills

  • Photography, video and photo editing skills are plus.
