Activity BackgroundÂ
Urban WASH, a $44.9M USAID-funded initiative, is designed to promote safe, inclusive, and resilient sanitation services. Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) focuses on equitable sanitation services that consider the entire sanitation service chain, including fecal sludge management, sewer systems, and on-site sanitation solutions. This activity aims to build the capacity of planners, decision-makers, and utility staff to adopt CWIS principles and apply effective planning frameworks to deliver sustainable and inclusive urban sanitation services.Â
This STTA will focus on developing resources for Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS).
Purpose of STTA
To enhance the capacity of urban sanitation planners, utility staff, and decision-makers in citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) planning by developing and institutionalizing high-quality training materials and competency assessment tools.
Specific TasksÂ
 The consultants will undertake the following activities:
Specific Tasks

Needs Assessment:

Review existing CWIS frameworks and training resources.

Identify gaps in knowledge and capacity among urban sanitation stakeholders.

Curriculum Development:

Develop a curriculum covering CWIS principles, planning tools, and implementation strategies.

Manual Development:
-
Create training manuals, facilitator guides, and participant handbooks tailored to CWIS approaches.

Competency Assessment Tools:

Design tools to measure participants’ understanding and application of CWIS principles pre- and post-training.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Engage with EWTI, urban sanitation authorities, and utilities to ensure alignment with national policies and global best practices.

Validation Workshops:

Facilitate validation sessions with stakeholders to review and refine the training materials.

Training Delivery:

Conduct training sessions for urban sanitation stakeholders to enhance their capacity in CWIS planning.

Finalization and Handover:

Incorporate feedback from validation workshops and submit final materials in soft and hard copies.

Period of the assignmentÂ
This assignment will run from January 20, 2025, to March 21, 2025., covering 45 working days.
Working arrangements
The consultant will work and coordinate with Urban WASH and EWTI for training resource development, validation workshop, ToT session, and submission of deliverables.
Minimum QualificationsÂ
-
Advanced degree in urban planning, public health, WASH, or related fields.

Proven experience in citywide sanitation planning and CWIS frameworks.

Familiarity with sanitation service chain concepts and inclusive planning methodologies.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
-
Expertise in gender-sensitive and equity-based approaches to urban sanitation.
