Sector: Integrated Agricultural Farming (Crop production, Livestock fattening, Beekeeping, Fishing, etc.)
Roles and Responsibilities:
Agronomists at KMD Agricultural Farm will specialize in the science of soil management and crop production and may work in various fields related to agriculture, sustainability, and environmental science. The key areas include:
1. Crop Science and Plant Breeding:
Develop better crop varieties, improving yields, pest resistance, and drought tolerance through plant breeding and genetic research.
2. Soil Science and Fertility:
Focus on the management and improvement of soil health, studying soil properties, fertility, and the interaction between plants and soils to optimize crop production.
3. Sustainable Agriculture:
Promote farming practices that are environmentally friendly, resource-efficient, and economically viable. This includes precision agriculture, conservation tillage, and organic farming.
4. Pest and Weed Management:
Study methods to control pests and weeds using integrated pest management (IPM) techniques, reducing reliance on chemical pesticides.
5. Climate Change and Environmental Impact:
Assess the effects of climate change on agriculture and work on strategies to mitigate its impact on crops and farming systems, such as adopting climate-resilient crops or new irrigation methods.
6. Agricultural Engineering:
Collaborate with engineers to improve farm machinery, irrigation systems, and the application of technology in modern agriculture.
7. Agribusiness and Farm Management:
Manage farms, advise on farm operations, and help with economic decision-making and market analysis for agricultural products.
8. Agroforestry:
Integrate trees and crops in a sustainable farming system, enhancing biodiversity and improving soil health.
9 . Water Management:
Focus on efficient water use for agriculture, ensuring sustainable crop production with limited water resources.

Educational Qualifications:

Applicants should hold qualifications in one of the following fields or related disciplines:

Plant Science, General Agriculture, Rural Development, and related fields
Experience:

For BSc holders: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

For MSc holders: Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
Required Expertise:

Proficiency in applying herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides safely and effectively.

Ability to investigate and diagnose symptoms related to pests, diseases, and fungi.

Strong knowledge of modern farming systems and sustainable agricultural practices.

Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Capacity to travel and work in challenging environments.

Ability to manage tasks effectively under pressure.
