 Job Summary

To ensure MTI project activities implemented are being well recognized and well represented at the region level through close contact/meeting with RHB, Clusters, TWGs, donors, partners, and all stakeholders. This position will be responsible for ensuring Medical Teams project activities in Amhara region.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Represent Medical Teams International in Bahir Dar by liaising with the RHB, Donors and other stakeholders including partners.

  • Share update of Medical Teams International work and activities and report back any updates from various platform in Bahir Dar to the Gondar Coordination Office

  • Facilitate MOU/Operational agreement b/n MTI and RHB, DRM, BoWSA, and Bureau of Plan & Finance (BoFED, and Early Warning Response & Risk Preparedness (Bureau of Agriculture)

  • Attend Health, Nutrition, protection, Logistics cluster, TWG meetings and share the direction/updates to Medical Teams International Gondar Coordination office through the Health and Nutrition Manager

  • Attend HINGO and Access coordination meetings in Bahir Dar and serve as Medical Teams International security focal point in Bahir Dar

  • Identify needs of Health & nutrition response to support restore operations to full capacity and communicate them with MTI Gondar field office

  • Support the provision of healthcare delivery services complies with the standards set forth by RHB, FMOH and MTI

  • Support the health delivery, all services are carried out using the highest standards and upon identifying processes which do not comply with Medical Team’s standards, report findings to the Health and Nutrition Manager in Gondar.

  • Work closely with health & Nutrition Manager Gondar to help provide capacity building for healthcare staff at the HFs where services are being offered.

  • Identify needs for training at the target H/facilities, report training needs to the Health & Nutrition Manager and support the development and implementation of training plans

  • Ensure weekly monitoring and evaluation weekly reports from HFs under Bahir Dar AOR is provided to MTI Gondar MEAL Officer

  • Develop weekly/monthly/quarter reports to MTI, Gondar Field coordinator

  • Attend regional level meetings, review meetings and workshops as appropriate.

  • Perform additional activities (not listed here) as directed by his immediate supervisor.

Additional activities

  • Support other activities areas of the liaison office (pharmacy/logistics, HSS) as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, disposing of waste appropriately.

  • Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding.

  • Ensure accountability is integrated into country strategies, program design, monitoring and evaluations, recruitment, staff onboarding, trainings and performance management, partnership agreements, and highlighted in reporting.

Education, Licenses, & Certification

  •   Nurse, midwifery or Health Officer and MPH/MSc is preferable

Experience

  • At least 5 yrs experience working at a Health program at which 2 years’ experience in managing/liaison activities; closely working with RHB and partners

  • Working in International NGOs is highly preferable

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven knowledge of development & humanitarian issues and concepts

  • Fluent spoken and written in Amharic and English.

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills

  • Proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations

  • Excellent communicator
