Job Purpose:- An Earthwork Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating earth-moving operations on construction sites. They ensure that excavation, grading, and soil stabilization activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop and implement earthwork plans based on project requirements.
- Schedule and assign tasks to crew members and subcontractors.
- Ensure proper equipment and material availability for earthwork operations.
- Communicate project scope and expectations to operators and contractors.
2. Site Supervision & Execution
- Oversee excavation, grading, and compaction activities.
- Ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality and compliance.
- Conduct daily site inspections to assess progress and resolve issues.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent workplace hazards.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings and weekly toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
- Address and report safety concerns, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
4. Resource & Budget Management
- Track labour, equipment usage, and material costs.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation for reporting safety issues and project expenses.
5. Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Liaise with superintendents, project managers, and clients.
- Provide regular updates on project status and workforce needs.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
6. Quality Assurance & Problem-Solving
- Ensure earthwork activities meet specified quality standards.
- Inspect materials and fieldwork for compliance.
- Resolve unexpected challenges with innovative solutions.
Education
- TVET 10+3/4, Â Diploma or advance diploma in Road Construction.
- Professional certifications in Construction  Management are preferred
ExperienceÂ
- Minimum of 06 years of experience in road construction projects. (gravel road, DBST Road, asphalt road)
Skill :-
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation (Dozers, Graders, Excavators, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret Templates, engineering drawings and specifications.
- Â Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
