The Fleet Maintenance Inspector is responsible for verifying that materials and spare parts ordered for fleet maintenance meet quality and specification standards. The role also ensures that maintenance and repair work is performed by external and internal garages aligns with safety, quality, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspection of Materials & Spare Parts

  • Inspect and verify that spare parts, lubricants, and consumables ordered for fleet maintenance meet required quality and specifications.
  • Check the authenticity and suitability of spare parts before acceptance and installation.
  • Ensure all materials are delivered in the right quantity and match purchase orders.
  • Maintain records of inspected materials and report any discrepancies.

2. Quality Assurance of Maintenance & Repairs

  • Conduct inspections on vehicles before and after maintenance or repairs to ensure all required work is completed.
  • Verify that external garages perform repairs according to agreed service levels and technical standards.
  • Assess the quality of mechanical, electrical, and bodywork repairs on fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely execution.

3. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports on materials received and maintenance work performed.
  • Report any non-compliance, defects, or substandard work to the Fleet Manager.
  • Assist in tracking vehicle service records, including scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
  • Maintain records of rejected materials and actions taken.

4. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Fleet Management team, procurement, and suppliers to address any material quality issues.
  • Liaise with mechanics and service providers to resolve maintenance-related concerns.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and cost-effective maintenance solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, automotive inspection, or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair standards, and diagnostic procedures.
    • Ability to inspect and evaluate mechanical and electrical components.
    • Familiarity with fleet management systems and spare parts inventory.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Good communication and report-writing skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with different teams.
